HOW TO ORDER A TUB AND SHOWER SET UP:

There are 2 different ways to set up a tub and shower setup. The most basic is called a PRESSURE BALANCE SETUP and a more luxurious convenient method is called a THERMOSTATIC SETUP.

The PRESSURE BALANCE SETUP is made up of the following:

a)    A pressure balance valve (and trim), which has 1 handle that turns on the water and the more you turn the handle, the stronger and hotter the water gets. This valve comes either with or without an integral diverter (depending whether it is used as shower only or tub and shower).

b)     A separate wall diverter (and trim)(2 way or 3 way) it may be available for multiple outlets (i.e. a hand shower).

The THERMOSTATIC SHOWER SETUP is made up of the following:

a)    A thermostatic valve and trim which sets the temperature of the water “but does not turn on the water”.

b)     Volume control valve(s) and trim(s) to turn on the water. The amount of volume controls depends on the shower setup. For example; a shower only requires 1 volume control, while a tub and shower setup will require 2 volume controls. You must also be sure to add more volume controls as needed, (i.e. 1 extra volume control for hand-shower, 1 extra volume for up to 3 body-sprays [for 3-6 body-sprays use 2 volume controls]).

The beauty of the thermostatic system is that your shower temperature will be present and you can run multiple outlets simultaneously i.e. shower and hand-shower or shower and body-sprays.

Please note that some manufacture offer the shower as a complete package while some require you to put together your own system. Please make sure that the right amount of volumes is supplied. You will also find that some thermostatic valves and trims will have an integral volume control thereby eliminating the need of one volume control for that setup.
