How to order a MORTISE ENTRANCE SET:

Installing an entrance mortise lock has the benefit of double securtiy.

  1. The side of a mortise lock has 2 buttons. You can controll if you would like to keep this lock open or closed. When one button is pushed in it  has the option to lock automatically when someone leaves the house, then could be used with a buzzer for reentry, when the second button is pushed in it leaves the lock open so that someone can come in without being buzzed  or needing a key.
  2. The second lock works as a regular cylinder, locks and reopens with a key or turnpeice from the inside.

  • DOOR THICKNESS - standard door thickness is 1 3/4". If your door is thicker then standard additional parts are needed, which will add cost to existing price. Please email or contact us for detailed information.
  • DOOR HANDING - standing outside of room, if door swings in and hinges are on the right side then you order right hand lock, if hinges are on the left side and swings in then you order left hand lock. But, if door swings out and hinges are on the right you need a right hand reverse lock and if hinges are on the left and swings out a left hand reverse lock is needed.
  • If you have existing holes on the door order a lock with plates winder than 3". If there are no holes on the door then you can order any entrance lock you please.
  • FULL DUMMY'S - if you have 2 doors by your entrance you need to order 2 trims, 1 Active and 1 Full Dummy Set. The door the dummy is on should have no holes. If active is right hand the full dummy is a left hand and same vice versa, if active is left hand the full dummy is a right hand.
  • If door has glass/molding in the center please check how many inches you have from glass/molding to edge of door in order to be able to fit the entrance lock you want. Please contact us to ensure that what you want to order will fit.

The BACKSET is the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the hole drilled to accommodate the knob set. The standard backset, used in over 90 percent of new construction is 2 3/8 inches. The only other option available is 2 3/4 inches. Please measure your backset before you place your order to be certain you order hardware that fits your door.
